Video dating

With the increasing opportunities for interactive communication available on the internet, video dating is a logical next step.  Two people do not need to be in the same town or even the same country in order to enjoy a date.  Both just need to have a web cam and be willing to sign up for one of the video dating sites.

Before signing up for any dating type website, you need to be very sure what your goals are.  Do you want just a once in a while communication medium with no personal involvement?  Do you want the chance to develop something through mutual interests?  Are you seriously looking for a romantic long-term relationship?  Are you more into voyeurism?  You can find all these sites and more on the internet.

When you sign up for video dating, you will usually have a free trial subscription period, generally limited in time. You will complete a basic profile which you should make as informative as possible.  If you are just answering yes or no to all the questions, it really doesn’t help potential dates know much about you. 

At the same time, you should be honest about yourself.  Don’t claim to love children if you don’t.  Don’t shade your age-in either direction. If you’re required to submit a photograph of yourself, there is nothing wrong with choosing the best photo that you have, but don’t make the mistake of submitting a picture of your glamorous cousin who’s a look-alike for Julia Roberts.  You might get some enjoyment out of pretending to look like a movie star, but what will you do when you want to meet the man of your dreams and you aren’t what you said you were?

Once you’ve viewed some still pictures and looked at the profiles of people who are looking for a video date, it’s time to take the relationship to the next level by indicating an interest in someone. 

If you decide on someone to visit with via a video date, the most important thing to remember is just to be yourself.  You don’t have to be nervous or self-conscious when talking to the person.  Just let the conversation flow naturally and see where it goes. If you decide to meet later in person, that’s good.  If you prefer to keep things at a video date level, you don’t need to worry about security issues.
